As much as I’ve seen behind-the-scenes snippets, I have high hopes for the Thai BL drama Love Sea The Series. Produced by GMM-25 with Me Mind Y, Love Sea stars Peat Wasuthorn Chaijindar as Tongrak Taksakornkarn and Fort Thitipong Sangngey as Mahasamut. The pair of actors starred together previously in Love In The Air.
Synopsis:
Tongrak is a writer of popular romance novels. While traveling in search of inspiration for his most recent book, he meets an irritating southern Thai man, Mahasamut. However, when they end up in bed together, Tongrak is hooked.

Thoughts:
I admit to some concern when I found out this is based on a novel by Mame. Many of her works feature non-con (non-consensual)sex scenes, abuse tropes, rape, and pretty heavy material. But I’m giving this series a go until I see something that causes me to change my mind. I can handle flawed, complex characters, but I can’t handle people falling in love with abusers.
The first episode is pure fluff. I smiled a lot during the 56-minute episode. The main characters seem to be opposites. Who doesn’t love a good story where opposites fall in love when sparks fly? I love stories like that. Also, the scenery is breathtaking. What a gorgeous island to film the series on; every shot is so beautiful. I would love to see it in person someday.
Massamut and Tongrak are a delight to watch. Then we have Mook, Tongrak’s secretary, versus Vivi, Tongrak’s actress best friend. Vi enjoys ordering Mook around, but I think she gets to spend more time with Mook by acting as the helpless maiden. These are the two couples of Love Sea The Series.
Massamut is the charming rogue of the island. He’s gorgeous and knows it. He is also very thoughtful and caring to everyone he comes across. He seems to know everyone. They all love him, from the older uncle with the bad back wheeling landscaping waste around to the friend whose mother needs her annual check-up. This man is dang near perfect already. He is openly bisexual but doesn’t settle down. He does errands and jobs for just about everyone.
Tongrak is a writer. He is flashy, loud, and prickly, like a cactus, to hide his loneliness. He is used to getting his way and doesn’t know what to make of Massamut’s pushy behavior. Massamut doesn’t take money tossed his way as insulting but accepts jobs he’s willing to do. Tongrak’s attraction to Massamut is plain to see. He capitalizes on his sex appeal to manipulate men, but Massamut doesn’t seem willing to bite. This both frustrates and intrigues Tongrak. He’s not used to being turned down.
Massamut treats Tongrak like an angry kitten, and I can already tell this will be a running theme repeated throughout the episodes. The characterization is accurate, though, cause even though he hisses and his claws come out, he wants to be held and loved.
For our side GL pair, we have dear overworked Mook, who is a personal assistant to Tongrak. A beautiful and hardworking woman, she is swamped with work while Tongrak is off on the island. Tongrak’s best friend is a successful, gorgeous actress. Vi intimidates Mook, who gets flustered by trying to keep her happy.
Vi plays the helpless actress and orders Mook to change her lightbulb personally since she can’t do it herself. We later see Vi unscrewing the lightbulb with her toolbox below as she plots to ensure a problem with the light switch before Mook comes over. Vi appears to be a bully, the one you are interested in type. I can’t wait to see where their story takes them.

Fort and Peat have some great chemistry as a pair of actors. I haven’t seen their other works, but I plan to watch them. I plan to write about Love In The Air as well.
Thoughts on the first Episode?

Haven’t seen or heard of this- might try and look at it.
Love in the Air was very popular as the “Mame work that works” with “great” acting. I watched about 2 episodes and it was not for me. Minimal plot and Peat was the only one of the four main leads I found with decent acting ability.
It had “sizzling” NC scenes (Mame specialty!) that I found choreographed and lacking any real sense of passion/urgency etc. Maybe it got better?
I finished Love in the Air, enjoyed it, but it was slow to develop. The secondary couple showed the extent of Fort and Peat’s acting ability and chemistry. Honestly though, still not sure I want to review it even if I enjoyed it. Mame heaped some serious trauma onto Peat’s character, and then tried to repeat the character’s trauma when it didn’t really seem to make sense in the plot. But I did root for their happy ending, so maybe not so bad.
As for Love Sea, expect explicit NC scenes in the second episode but I didn’t quite expect it. However the characters also become a bit vulnerable in front of each other, so I will continue to watch it and see how it all unfolds.
Added to my watch list. Thanks for the introduction.
Episode 2…super 🔥🔥 I started to watch on my living room tv but had to switch to my IPAD. Didn’t want my 20 year old to walk in during the middle of …ahem.. 😁 – Jen
